We met David duringan online conversation on collaborative and participatory art practices in London. In similar discussions he and his partners in conversation have developed the concept of post-autonomy. The ongoing debate can be found at http://www.postautonomy.co.uk/blog

portable archive from resourceCITE ( E m e r g e D Leeds ) This project has been initiated to increase awareness, develop understanding and open up dialogue about visual art in the public realm. The archive will be open to the public through programmed artists' talks and events, in various venues around Leeds and beyond, and as part of events presented by other organisations and groups.

red76 do projects, mostly in the American North-West, like the following: Little Cities is an on-going project that deals with home and ways in which we can bring about discussion as to how we define what home is, or can be. We have been having a series of Little Cities Build Yr. Own House Parties throughout the country.

Some of the people who fomerly collaborated as c.cred are still putting up events and discussions in all sorts of places on both sides of the Atlantic. The next big project is the alt.SPACE festival in London, 2 – 29 July, 2007. You can follow that up at http://www.altspace.info

QUEL'QUE CHOSE HORRIBLE QUE J'ESPERE N'ARRIVERA JAMAIS! ZU HAUS. EIN ANDERES PROBLEM
(Jimmie Durham)

September 18-19, 2004: Urban intervention workshop in Liverpool. Mission: Looking at the city in its role as host for a major art event. Also, look into the possibilities of creating art that claims its own space in the city, is capable of triggering its own poetics and of reclaiming, if only momentarily, a bit of disappearing public space. Format: Invited artists and practitioners to lead. Walk, talk, look and listen around town. Home made food cooked and served along communal lunch table. (Cecilia Anderson)

As part of the Unwetter discursive camping on nutrition that took place in Liverpool in October, I cooked and served a large paella. Torolab provided the accompanying music playing from the In shop-shop vehicle.

Paella
12 portions

1 litre medium grain rice (Arborio)
8 tablespoons olive oil
garlic
2 onions
saffron
2 teaspoons paprika
2 litre hot chicken stock
2 chorizos
some chicken, shrimps, mussels, squid and/or white fish
salt
pepper
2 lemon

Heat olive oil and fry pieces of chicken in a (paella) pan. Cut the white fish into pieces and fry. Cut and fry chorizo. Add salt, onion and garlic and fry until soft. Add the rice, saffron paprika and fry for a minute or two while stirring. Add half the heated chicken stock and let rice boil vividly for 5 minutes. Then add the rest of the stock along with shrimps, mussels and/or squid and reduce heat. Leave on stove for 20 minutes. Do not stir. If needed, add stock gradually. Turn heat off and cover the pan with a cloth or newspaper. Let stand for 10 min. Add salt and pepper. Serve with lemon wedges. (Cecilia Andersson)

Imprint is a series of photographic and text works which explore the relationship between language and place. Dialogues have been collected in public toilets from overheard or participatory conversation with strangers; these dialogues have then been displayed with images of the interiors of public toilets. The language is colloquial and personal to a particular region or has a vernacular specific to the country; the places the dialogue has been collected (public lavatories) are public spaces, things discussed are often personal, and yet for everyone to hear. Brendan Byrne: video, internet and further projects http://www.brendan.byrne1.btinternet.co.uk/ Liverpool

Through Brendan, whom we met in Liverpool, and who – together with Ana – is now doing some eye-blowing stuff in the field of vj-theory (see: http://www.vjtheory.net/), we came into contact with iRes in Falmouth (http://ires.falmouth.ac.uk/ires.htm) and Magda. We had a lovely online picnic in 2006, but in the context of Art in Hidden Places of Faulmouth they are doing ever more witty and intriguing projects over there. Have a look at http://art-in-hidden-places.blogspot.com/

"The intention of Kiën was to preserve the timeless "Klangwelt" of the Popol Vuh origins, dealing with it, playing with it. Sometimes I made variations of tracks, no editing, just using filters and effects to stress parts important for me. Other tracks work with short samples, developping new connections and new forms: the remix as a creative process." Marc-Christian Witt - lives and works in Berlin as producer and dj, main project "ambitronic" - first recordings in 1996 with Popol Vuh member Frank Fiedler - music for films and performances.

Throughout my degree course I have tried to develop a practice that will be sustainable not by repetition and variation but by the use of non-specialist, available media and being responsive to my cultural context. As an ex-bookseller I'm interested in ideas around publication/exhibition and the way these can be percieved as generous, arrogant or merely routine. Using low status materials and techniques like rubber stamping I attempt to tackle large subjects - one large subject being the effects of over-simplification inherent in practice, research and presentation. Visiting UNWETTER's discursive camping project was immensely fortunate for me. Not long graduated the sustainability of my practice will be now put to the test and it was useful to discuss with them how they evaluated reception and contact. www.pakerrigan.clara.net (Peter Kerrigan)

A Topography of Leone Park Beach (Chicago) is set on a park along the Chicago side of Lake Michigan. Located in the Rogers Park neighborhood, on the far North side of the city, this under-funded public space is indicative of many such parks (not to mention other types of social programs which have lost state funding such as the infamous Cabrini Green public housing project) located elsewhere in Chicago. The city tends to fund extremIely large-scale projects, such as the recently opened 'Millenium Park' located in the center of the city (complete with Frank Gehry designed band shell and 110 ton Anish Kapoor sculpture), aimed at attracting international tourism, while those parks in the outlying neighborhoods of the city, which serve as a public space for local residents, are neglected.

In Leone Park Beach, there is a tall apartment building which forms a kind of wall on the park's northern side. This wall consists of a grid of balconies and windows overlooking the park, which becomes, in this configuration, a kind of stage. The feeling of being watched or on a stage has an obvious effect on the way in which those visiting the beach 'perform' there. This video is a recording of 5 'characters' performing, on the stage that is Leone Park Beach, without their being aware of it. (Zach Formwalt)

Video Based on a conversation with a resident of the town of Joal Fadiouth in Senegal. We were looking at clothes that had been dumped at the local fishermen's beach. Floating in the water they looked like beautifully colored waterplants. He said "Isn't it too bad about all this garbage." Once, we define something about a place we stop looking at it, I think. "Untitled" is about looking and allowing for other possibilities so that we can keep looking. (Maria Thereza Alves)

Chinese Cockle Pickers drown in Morecambe Bay, a section of China Sutras - a larger construction commissioned by Walker Art Centre, Minneapolis Sarat Maharaj gives us a textual, diagrammatic and cartographic charting of the (deadly) hydraulics with which globalization pumps, sucks and exploits streams of labor, trade, people, goods, food, around the world: across, above, through and underneath the world seas, just as they are about to circulate through Liverpool’s Morecambe Bay. In this movment, his sketches retrace the loss of lives untraced. (text: Philipp Ekhardt) (pdf 64 kb)

Everything in the world is doomed to decompose, compares the production, harvest and transport of imported and autochthonous vegetables and makes their decompostition processes visible. How do differences, produced within a globalized economy, (de)materialize? (Benno Gammerl)

Time to Market / Das Wetter erklären explores methods for the valuation of knowledge and information in the capitalist society. The reorganization of knowledge in the global knowledge-based economy and its understanding of value-production: wealth of nations / weather of nations. (Jole Wilcke)

The video, I LOVE MY INDIA, is set against the backdrop of the genocide against the minority Indian Muslim community in the state of Gujarat (starting Feb 2002). It takes place (one year after the genocide) at a popular public recreational space, the 'balloon target shooting'. The text I LOVE MY INDIA is formed by balloons on a target board. The text acts as a catalyst and and the board as an interface screen within the visual space, through which larger concepts of religion, national identity, self & community are mitigated. It's a performance set within the recreation & violence in the everyday while drawing comments on the world's 'largest democracy'. The responses are sometimes hilarious and often apathetic, culminating in a sense of loss of a perceived nationhood and a love for home. (Tejal Shah video 10 min)

THE PAVILION_VIDEO ATLAS. During her field-trips in the last years, Dorothee Albrecht collected video-statements from groups, projects, collectives, all exploring non-academic or marginal areas of knowledge production. These include small try-outs, soft and delicate attempts, convincing and very professional strategies to build up own methods and channels, to challenge hegemonic world views. (Dorothee Albrecht)

GRAND TOURS On the basis of conceptual procedures that combine image and text the selected artists produce disjunctive orders of knowledge: culturally coded concepts of happiness and science generate lacunae. (text: Elena Zanicelli)
Paradies, since 1998 Miguel Rotschilds, Paradies, Paradiso, Paraiso, Paradise, Paradis, points to a number of conventions that are tied to religious dogmas and representations of a mobile beyond. Rothschild uncovers an emptiness that stands behind the signifier "Paradies" which is filled differently on each occasion: step by step projections ranging from trivial commodity-aesthetics to the lyrical tensions of empty (Paradise)-Streets are concretized. This conception of paradise is gradually revealed as a deception. The work is realized through a technique of serial accumulation that displays its mechanism - a strategy already included in the project's title.
(Slow eye movements)3, DVD, 2004 . Departing from microscopical images of viruses, spurs, and bacteria, Andrea Melloni imitates some sort of evolutionary chain. The charming visualization of this (digitally generated and invented) process is accompanied by a text from an American manual for self-protection against bioterrorist attacks. Mass hysteria is transformed into an elegant journey into the self: The slow eye movIents mentioned in the work's title go back to a dream-like phase. The low frequencies which induce sleepiness are transposed into a soundtrack for the work.

DRESS – THE SEASONS 1 to 2: from Malmoe to Liverpool continues a series of moves through various fields of contingencies. Fashions (self-) organize, logos emerge like weather phenomena, Unwetter generates new styles of emergency-dress. (Philipp Ekardt)

sansculottes? get culottes! "sansculottes" were introduced within a workshop setting at this year's Design Mai in Berlin as a way of inspiring a comeback for culottes. The name sansculottes joins the term culottes with the French "sans" = without. "Sans-Culottes" originally was a name given to a faction of rebellious workers during the French Revolution. A Japanese review of sansculottes declares "In the 70s we also had them in Japan but this one is more like a skirt; it has a new feeling!" (Ulrike Solbrig)

Last Weekend I Missed You, Impressions from Hemsby29 by Ingrid Molnar for friends that could not be there (A work in progress). Hemsby Rock n' Roll Weekenders take place twice a year in May and October in the village of Hemsby 130 miles from London on the East coast of England. The nearby beach and resort town remain in a time warp of 50's culture   that provides a perfect setting for the event.

Through chance friendships, Hamburg based, Austrian filmmaker Ingrid Molnar obtains an intimate look at a vibrant community, unstuck in time, that exuberantly expresses itself in music, dance, language,   hairstyles, clothing, body art, motorbikes and cars. Rockabilly allows the security of nostalgia to be a platform for energetic creative expression and Molnar casually invites us to share in this colorful cultural stew.
