Become a Thai Masseur Within One Week

1996 Suwan Laimanee brought in conjunction to Pistoletto’s Progetto Arte “Habitus, Abito, Abitare” Thai Massage into an art context, when he massaged over the whole period of 4 month the visitors at the Biennale di Firenze. He declared his craft to be his art.

2006 he started his workshopseries "Become a Thai Masseur – Within One Week" as his contribution to “Temporary Museum Soi Sabai” at the Rajata Art House in Thailand. The invitation of Rikrit Tiravanija to the Land Foundation in Chiang Mai was followed by numerous workshops worldwide.

From 10 am – 5 pm, August 13th – 17th, you are invited to take part in his workshop Become a Thai Masseur Within One Week at Freies Museum. Suwan Laimanee’s art practice is founded upon the 2500 years old yoga-based Thai medical massage system. It is a Thai tradition of healing massage rooted in Indian philosophy, ayurvedic medicine, Chinese medicine and Buddhist spiritual practice. Thai massage is a combination of mind and body therapy, incorporating Hatha yoga, acupressure points, reflexology, meditations and healing art. Each technique will be demonstrated step-by-step and each sequential movement will be thoroughly explained by touch and drawings. Participants will receive a certificate upon completion of the workshop. Contact: thaimasseurwithinoneweek@googlemail.com
